About this guide: Domain Registrar UK is an impartial guide published by Web Designer Limited (trading as Zoib). We are not a domain registrar and we are not connected to Nominet or the Charity Commission. We don’t sell domains on this site or earn commission. More about us.

Five things every trustee board should know

  1. Whose name is the domain in? It should be the organisation’s, not a volunteer’s or the web designer’s.
  2. Who can log in? At least two people, with two-factor authentication.
  3. When does it expire? Auto-renew on, with a current card.
  4. Where do renewal reminders go? To a shared inbox, not one person’s.
  5. Who pays? Only your existing registrar. Ignore unexpected “renewal” invoices.

Questions people ask

Is this site a domain registrar?

No. Despite the name, Domain Registrar UK is an information site. To register or renew a .UK domain, Nominet recommends using a registrar; Nominet’s own site lists registrars when you search for a name.

Is this official Nominet or Charity Commission guidance?

No. It’s an independent summary that links to their official guidance, which takes precedence.
